India, Bihar: Schneider Electric has partnered with South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL) to modernize and strengthen Bihar’s power distribution network.

According to a statement from Schneider Electric, this collaboration represents a major step toward delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy and digital solutions to the people of Bihar.

Rising energy demand strained Bihar’s grid, pushing SBPDCL to modernize for a stable, uninterrupted power supply. Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Grid solutions enabled 24/7 monitoring, ensuring reliability and delivering major benefits to SBPDCL, its consumers, and the state.

Power reliability has improved by an impressive 90%, while energy consumption and cost savings have reached up to 80% and 60%, respectively. Additionally, engineering cost and time optimization have improved by 70%, greatly enhancing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness, the statement noted.

As part of the project, Schneider Electric established a state-of-the-art Command-and-Control Center and a Disaster Recovery Center, enabling real-time monitoring and decision-making for better grid connectivity and reliability. The initiative also included the deployment of 305 Ring Main Units (RMUs) to enhance distribution reliability and 550 Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) on overhead lines to improve fault detection and response times.
