In a significant step towards Dubai’s urban development goals, Linxon Gulf LLC has completed an innovative Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) in Business Bay.
The substation includes 132 kV gas-insulated switchgears, power transformers, reactors, 11 kV air-insulated switchgears, and comprehensive control and protection systems.
Challenges
Building in an urban area like Business Bay required complex structural solutions and precise planning. Coordination with multiple stakeholders and managing logistics in a confined space were critical. The project site had only one access point, complicating material and manpower movement. Linxon’s agile response ensured efficient design and execution.
Sustainability Initiatives
A standout feature was the solar diesel hybrid system, reducing fuel consumption and earning Linxon a certificate of recognition. Other green initiatives included plastic reduction, solar-powered lights, and recycling programs, contributing to Linxon’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
Conclusion
The Abraj Street Substation exemplifies how innovative engineering can meet urban energy demands while reducing environmental impact.
