USA, Texas: Entergy Texas has selected United Utility as its alliance partner for the Texas Future Ready Resiliency Plan, a multiyear initiative aimed at reinforcing the Southeast Texas power grid.
The partnership kicks off with a $137 M first phase to be executed over three years, focusing on strengthening the distribution network, reducing the frequency of storm-related outages, and minimizing restoration costs for future weather events.
United Utility, a national electric utility infrastructure service provider, will deliver engineering design, construction, and material management services. The company will also conduct pole inspections through a combination of aerial drone technology and ground-based methods. Design activities are scheduled to begin by June, with construction starting in fall 2025.
The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) approved Phase I of the plan earlier this year. United Utility’s selection as an alliance partner aligns with the PUC’s approved filings and marks an expansion of its operational presence in Texas.
Already engaged in grid hardening projects for Entergy Louisiana, Duke Energy, and NextEra Energy in Florida, United Utility brings extensive experience to the partnership.
“This collaboration allows us to deliver targeted grid enhancements that will help reduce outage durations and recovery costs for homes and businesses across Southeast Texas,” said Ty Carmeans, West Region President at United Utility.
The program underscores a shared commitment to building a more resilient and reliable energy infrastructure in the region.
